Thank A Police Officer Day on Delmarva: We're Looking for Community Partners

Attention Delmarva Residents and Business Owners!! Following up on the basic information which we began distributing several weeks ago, we're kicking the plans for September 15th into high gear. Between now and then we will be collecting cards, posters and signboards created by local residents, students and art classes, and then ensuring that these are handed out to area police departments. (Pssst.....we need a lot of cards). See the previous blog post here.

We are currently seeking locations across Delmarva where cards or scrolls for local departments can be displayed and signed by the public. Facilities such as restaurants, service companies, office lobbies, farmers markets and real estate offices, etc have all hosted "Signing Spots" over the past few years, so how can you get involved?

  • 1) Decide where your organization or company will be setting up an area for people to stop by and sign.
  • 2) Create a jumbo card or poster board (a fun team activity!) and take some photos to send us so we can let folks know about your location.
  • 3) Spread the word about the project and invite your customers, clients, neighbors and friends to stop in and add their messages of support. Create a custom hashtag for your business if you wish or make an event page and be sure to tag us in your posts so we can share!
  • 4) Please note if you decide to create a bunch of individual cards: kindly address them to a “Delmarva Law Enforcement Officer” so that we can pass them out to any agency.

Here are a couple of examples from the past few years:

To get more ideas and see creative suggestions, visit our Facebook page. View the photo albums for "Thank a Police Officer Day" and then brainstorm with your office or staff on ways to share in this project. You can even sign up to adopt a local agency, be a Team Captain and visit your local department on September 14th or 15th!

Our cause was established to acknowledge local departments and agencies across the fourteen counties which make up the Delmarva Peninsula, as well as working to promote an attitude of respect.

Sincerely,

Delmarva Supports Law Enforcement
