New Year Greetings for Police & Law Enforcement Officers

It's December 31st and another tumultuous year has drawn to a close. So much loss this year; across the nation, with attacks on our cops on the rise, violence towards officers at an all-time high, and so much anger and disrespect shown towards those who wear the badge on a daily basis. 2022 marked the second year in a row that our local area has suffered a devastating line of duty death, with the murder of Deputy Glenn Hilliard in June. It's been a difficult and challenging year for many, but we are determined and committed to not give up hope.

September 19th, 2022

September 19th, 2015, on the heels of the first Thank A Police Officer Day on Delmarva, this page was created with the goal of recognizing those who protect and serve. Our mission was to bring local news, upcoming events and information, to a central site with a positive focus on law enforcement, along with promoting and gathering support for the annual observance of Thank a Police Officer Day.

Thank You for Honoring Delmarva Police Departments

It has never been "just a day" that we appreciate our law enforcement, because of course, we recognize them every single day. National "Thank A Police Officer Day", however, is a special occasion, one when we believe all LEO should know how much they are valued.

Ideas For Celebrating National "Thank A Police Officer Day"

It's a crazy time of the year for us here! While it goes without saying we support our cops 365 days a year, this date coming up is specifically designated for showing gratitude for what LEO do. Whether you choose to provide lunch or dinner to an agency, rally your neighborhood to deliver snacks and cards, or show appreciation in another thoughtful way, no effort is too small.

Annual "Thank A Police Officer Day" to be Observed September 17th, 2022

Save the date!! National "Thank A Police Officer Day" is coming up on the third Saturday in September, and as in years past, we are excited to honor and acknowledge our officers here on Delmarva. 2022 marks the ninth year we have been involved with this project, made possible only through the incredible efforts of area residents and amazing volunteers.

Friday, June 17th: National Day of Prayer for Law Enforcement

National Day of Prayer for Law Enforcement Officers 2022: while we may all be of different beliefs and faiths, one thing we are united in, and that is our gratitude and love for those who wear the badge.⁣ Although we may be working or serving in various locations and unable to join together, the words "For where two or three gather together in My name, there am I with them”, reminds us that we can lift up our hearts and voices anywhere, alone or with others.

Deputy First Class Glenn Hilliard | Wicomico County Sheriff's Office

We were shocked and surprised during a peaceful Sunday evening last night; worried for an officer we thought was injured; praying he or she would survive and recover. We were broken-hearted to see the updates which told us this was much worse, and devastated to read the words which began spilling out across social media. Our prayers for strength go out to the family of this deputy, loved ones and friends, and all at the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office as together we struggle to process what has happened.

As Police Week 2022 Comes to a Close....

Today was the official end to Police Week 2022. Being able to follow some of the services via YouTube or livestreamed is a great thing for those of us who cannot attend in person, but still wish to pay our respects to the fallen and the survivor families. In addition to the schedule in Washington, D.C., there were events this month which took place locally, such as memorial ceremonies and the Unity Tour riders passing through parts of Delaware and Maryland.

Mother's Day Greetings for Law Enforcement

This weekend we celebrate all mothers and moms, but especially the women who have chosen to serve in law enforcement. To those who decided to answer the call to protect your community, county or state, we remain ever grateful for your dedication and commitment.

National Public Safety Telecommunications Week 2022

Public Safety Telecommunications professional sounds like an ordinary, impersonal phrase used to describe a job opening, doesn't it? The wording of such a career does not truly convey or sum up the people who occupy such a role, nor does it begin to describe the multitude of tasks and skills this occupation encompasses.

I Hit A Wall And I'm Not Sure Where to Go From Here

I know lately there hasn't been much posted here or even on Facebook, and to be honest, I've hit a wall. Over the years since Delmarva Supports Law Enforcement was launched, I'd believed that in time there would be connections made and events to attend....but to date, those opportunities have been few. Okay, to be honest, they've been nonexistent.

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day: A Call To Action

It's early in the year - 2022 is just nine days old - and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day has again rolled across our calendars. There are so many phrases which could be written and posted today, eloquently-worded statements about honor and gratitude and thankfulness, and over the years we've attempted to write plenty of that type of content too. But this year, in light of recent events and losses, it seems appropriate post words of a different sort today.

"Fight With What You Have"

The last few weeks..... December felt as if the bad news every time I glanced at social media just kept getting worse. Maybe it was the holidays....maybe we just needed to make it to January, I thought, despite knowing a flip of the calendar wouldn't solve anything.
