Today is one of love and appreciation, so I'm sharing this post again! If this young man's behavior didn't exemplify kindness and caring, I don't know what does. 💙🖤 August 22nd, 2022: Sometimes things happen which remind us again, how blessed we are to have angels nearby.

Thanksgiving Greetings for Law Enforcement Officers
Good morning! It is November 26th, just two days before Thanksgiving, meaning a wildly chaotic week juggling the demands of five days into three (a bit of extra caffeine perhaps!?) 😁 We know many of you will be celebrating Thanksgiving early or late, due to shifts and schedules, and whatever festivities you will be holding, wherever you are gathering, we wish you and your family a very happy holiday.

Police Suicides on the Rise
August 15th, 2019: "Police departments confront ‘epidemic’ in officer suicides", an article by Michael R. Sisak and Jim Mustian.
The first few words: "A rash of suicides by police officers has shaken the New York Police Department, leading the commissioner to declare a mental health emergency"

How Rochester, NH Is Gearing Up for Thank a Police Officer Day 2018
I look online for many things; news stories, clip art, upcoming event listings, etc, but one of the things I've come across in the last year is just too awesome to keep to myself. Back in the summer of 2017, while Googling "thank a police officer day", I'd found a few images and graphics relating to a particular observance where residents were making plans together to show appreciation to their local law enforcement. Seeing "Rochester" displayed across the artwork led me to assume it took place in New York, but when I began seeing their posts again this year I realized it was actually Rochester, New Hampshire. But these aren't ordinary plans, run-of-the-mill happenings, or the usual town event; THIS is a celebration of the men and women across the neighborhoods of a community pulling out all the stops. I knew I had to find out the details - and more importantly, share it with you.

Attention Delmarva Residents and Business Owners!! Following up on the basic information which we began distributing several weeks ago, we're kicking the plans for September 15th into high gear. Between now and then we will be collecting cards, posters and signboards created by local residents, students and art classes, and then ensuring that these are handed out to area police departments. (Pssst.....we need a lot of cards). See the previous blog post here.

June 29th, 2018 | the Day After the Capital Gazette Shooting
Last night I wanted to post something inspiring, meaningful or comforting, but I had nothing. The words swirling in my head weren't appropriate for Facebook, nor was it the time or the place to share my thoughts. So I added one word to this Maryland flag image and posted it, just to let all of you know that I was thinking of you, and logged out of Facebook for the night.

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Delmarva | January 9th, 2018
Good morning. Yesterday on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day we saw some acts of kindness from local residents who took the time to drop by their local departments and thank the men and women who serve. We love seeing that and feel such efforts are both valuable and important for our community. (see the event page for our area here)

September 7th, 2017 | Update on Thank a Police Officer Day on Delmarva
On July 19th I wrote a note which provided a brief description about a date coming up in September. Although it was a little early to put out all the details I hoped to reach some new folks this year and also make sure that everyone had time to get involved with our efforts, and despite a slow start some of the folks who have been involved for the past year or two voiced their support again for this year. I felt pretty hopeful that we’d find more interested parties along with way but July faded away and August came and went and no one seemed interested. Some of the people I had been connected to backed away from the project, leaving me to wonder if it was reluctance to participate with a public effort and perhaps they preferred to plan their own type of event. Which is great; the hope is just that our officers are recognized and it certainly doesn’t need to be with us or anything of the sort. While the thoughts of perhaps being able to visit every department across the Delmarva Peninsula was probably a bit ambitious, the goal was to at least connect again with each of the 70+ agencies from 2016. And suddenly, it was the day after Labor Day and I began to doubt we’d even make that number.
