Thank A Police Officer Day on Delmarva | September 18th, 2021

In a world filled with daily challenges and unrest, strife and violence, there are still heroes among us. Each day, these men and women pick up their badges and head out into a society so often defined by judgemental and critical bystanders. Few are the individuals willing to walk into chaos to restore order, deal with people at their lowest and worst times of life, face disrespect and continual scrutiny, and yet we are fortunate enough to have these exceptional people who answered a call. One day each year, we have the opportunity to acknowledge and honor those who live a less selfish life perhaps, in the pursuit of doing something far more significant.

Together We Pray for Law Enforcement

Today we join our hearts and minds in praying for those on the front lines. While we can do little to keep police officers from harm during their daily shifts and nighttime patrols, we can each bow our heads and humbly ask for God to watch over them as they go forth each day.

It's Been Four Weeks

May 23rd, 2021: I'm sure eventually there will be a Sunday morning when I don't think "it's been ___ weeks since this tragedy occurred; since a family was shattered; since our community was devastated". But today is not that day.

Three Weeks Later, Never To Be Forgotten: Corporal Keith Heacook

May 16th, 2021: Three weeks ago a beloved member of our community was viciously assaulted as he responded to a call during his shift. What we see taking place in other states and big cities finally happened right here, at home, in our county.

Sunday Will Be A Week | Corporal Keith Heacook, Delmar Police Department

Saturday, May 1st: Tomorrow morning marks one week since one of the most horrifying attacks on an individual in recent memory took place right here at home. This is our state, my county, a town where a hero fell while protecting us.

I Wanted To Tell You About Corporal Keith Heacook.....

Friday, April 30th: This has been a surreal week filled with long days, shock, anger, sadness and searching. On Wednesday, April 28th, a press conference held at the Delmar Police Department officially informed us that our hero was gone, and the next morning all I could think to write about was to ask you to channel your grief into compassion for all our local departments and officers who are suffering along with this family.

Our Community Has Lost A Hero

There seemed to be no words last night...but since then I've been reaching; searching; trying to find something to write that may comfort or inspire.... maybe in some way, honor a hero and a life taken far too soon. People who rush to help others should not have their lives ended like this; the families of those who serve and protect shouldn't have to go through this hell.

We Can't Sit Back and Wait: Defend Our Police NOW

Sunday night was not a pep rally or a joyful occasion; it was created to pray for Cpl Heacook and his family, along with the other two victims. Knowing the seriousness of the injuries our Delmar police officer sustained, the mood was rather somber, and you could feel the worry and sadness from those who spoke and by simply glancing at the faces of the officers present.

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 2021

Dispatchers, public safety operators and communication professionals are the first point of contact in a complex web of solutions. It takes a calm, collected and skillful individual to adequately understand the needs of each situation, assess the resources for every crisis and coordinate essential emergency services - and yet, they do this countless times every day to save lives and act quickly for those in crisis.
