PRESS RELEASE:
To whom it may concern: We are contacting you with regards to the upcoming National “Thank A Police Officer Day”, observed annually on the third Saturday in September. The occasion was established to honor all who serve in law enforcement, and to recognize their vital, essential, and yet often under-appreciated, roles in our community.
Created in 2012 by the Whole Truth Project, we brought the idea here to the Delmarva area and began coordinating local activities in 2014. With the help of residents, community leaders and dedicated volunteers, we have been spreading cheer to police officers in numerous departments across Delaware and the eastern shore counties of Maryland and Virginia.
We would like to ask for your support in observing this date, by sharing an announcement on social media, issuing a proclamation in your community, and inviting citizens in our towns and cities to participate in acknowledging those who serve and protect. There are countless ways to participate, such as:
• organizing cards & snacks to deliver to local agencies
• providing lunch to a department
• displaying blue ribbons & signs of encouragement
• hosting a neighborhood or church event
• simply saying “thank you” to an officer
• additional ideas & information may be found on our social channels and are available via email
We hope you will join us again this year to honor the dedication of our law enforcement professionals. Please feel free to contact us via our social media networks with any questions.
