Maryland's Eastern Shore LODD: Trooper First Class Eric Dwight Monk, Maryland State Police

Saturday 5/19: Today we remember a fallen state trooper who became the 26th line of duty death on the eastern shore of Maryland (Somerset County). Remembering Trooper First Class Eric Dwight Monk, Maryland State Police. End of Watch Saturday, April 9, 1988.

"Trooper Eric Monk was struck and killed by a vehicle during a traffic stop on US Route 13 in Westover. He had been with the agency for just over 11 years and was survived by wife, brother, mother, and father." Source: ODMP.



April 3rd, 2018: "Maryland State Police Superintendent Colonel William Pallozzi, will be joined by the family, friends and fellow MSP employees of Fallen Hero, Trooper First Class Eric D. Monk to honor his service with the Department that ended thirty years ago after being killed in the line of duty." Source: MSP website.

April 9th, 2018 "In the line of duty: Princess Anne trooper's death honored after 30 years": When he joined the state police eight years ago, Trooper First Class Jordan Monk knew he had big shoes to fill. He had never met his uncle, Eric D. Monk, but he remembers seeing the plaques on the walls of his grandparents' home that memorialized him as a fallen hero and attending annual softball tournaments in his honor.
