While we cannot change what happened, we can change how we respond to our police officers right now. It is encouraging to see so many have stepped up to express appreciation and steadfast support for those who serve and protect, but let's make that the norm rather than only after a tragedy.
Let us never forget the heroes among us who walk into danger when needed, and let us not forget that we, ordinary people, can and will, be there behind them.
