"Fight With What You Have"

The last few weeks..... December felt as if the bad news every time I glanced at social media just kept getting worse. Maybe it was the holidays....maybe we just needed to make it to January, I thought, despite knowing a flip of the calendar wouldn't solve anything.

And then we made it to '22, and I breathed a sigh of relief, hoping somehow things would change. But the news keeps coming and on just day 6 of 365 it's been devastating already. It's easy to get sucked into sadness and grief, to want to quit and just tune everything out until the world becomes a better place....but that's when you know it's time to fight back.

Fight with what you have - if the dark is oppressive, shine a stronger light for your fellow humans who are struggling too. If the bad news is overwhelming, do something good and invite your neighbors to join you. Hope is not something you can buy and just distribute to those in need, but I know right now there are plenty of folks hurting more than I am; fighting harder to get out there each day; feeling down and disgusted with the world; and so we have to find hope and encouragement to share with them. If that's ALL we do today, it might be what matters to someone else feeling sadness and loss too.

KEEP THE FAITH. We can get through these times.
